Incumbents
Activist David Hogg recently became vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, and immediately pissed off the party leadership by arguing that incumbents in Congress should be primaried. Senators like Schumer, Gillibrand, and even Booker, despite his epic filibuster, have been tepid and ineffective in opposing Trump’s fascist maneuvers since taking office only a few months ago. Then there’s Fetterman, who seems to enjoy pissing off his base and his aides by cozying up to Trump; and Seth Moulton, who within days of the Harris loss to Trump, argued we should be throwing trans rights under the bus. Several other Democratic congressmen and women have been making arguments about wokism, the Palestinian rights protests, and blaming Arab American voters in Michigan (a persistent trend among centrist Democrats online.)
Maybe Hogg isn’t being fair, but I get his frustration. The D.N.C. is now trying to punish him for his rudeness. They’re more effective at punching left than fighting the right, so it’s to be expected.
